Facebook announces company name ‘Meta’

The CEO of the Facebook group, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced a new name on Facebook that is META. The rebranding brings all the companies owned by Facebook under the same umbrella as META.

This change of Parent company name does not apply to its platforms, like Whatsapp, Instagram, Messenger and Facebook, it is only the parent company that has gotten a new name.

This rebranding happened due to the negative scandals against Facebook, based on several leaked documents by an employee.

Ex-employee Frances Haugen has blamed the company for putting “profits over safety”.

Facebook CEO announced new plans to create a “metaverse”- an online platform where people can game, do work and communicate in a virtual environment, using VR headsets.
And Further Mark said:

“Over time, I hope that we are seen as a metaverse company and I want to anchor our work and our identity on what we’re building towards,” mark told in a press conference.

“We’re now looking at and reporting on our business as two different segments, one for our family of apps, and one for our work on future platforms.

“And as part of this, it is time for us to adopt a new company brand to encompass everything that we do, to reflect who we are and what we hope to build.”

The new log has been unveiled, a new sign at Headquarters in California, a blue infinity shape logo replacing old thumbs-up “like” Logo.

The word “meta” belong to a Greek word that means “beyond”.

Users in future instead of being on a screen, people will use VR to use metaverse to enter a virtual world.

Facebook has planned to start trading its shares under new MVRS from 1 December.
