What are Browser Games?
We all know about Flash games, but what are Browser Games?
Browser Games are mostly online multiplayer computer games played via the web browser.
They have pre-made graphics and usually have a structure on which they can expand more easily than on platforms like Steam or Origin, where developers have to make their mechanics first.
We don’t play Browser Games because they are Browser Games, we play Browser Games because they are fun.
Browser Games usually lack complex graphics and details that other platforms like Steam or Origin use to make their game stand out, browser game developers can focus on expanding the game mechanics without having to worry about the visuals (apart from quality, of course). You might see Browser Games as the toy version of other game platforms, but Browser Games are quite popular.
These games can be found on sites like Miniclip, Newgrounds and FGL. The difference between these game portals is that some of them have specific genres or types of games you can play while others allow players to publish their own browser game, players can play for free.
This is of course not the only way these games are published, browser-based MMOs like Dragonica Online and browser MMORPG like Legend of Edda (which had more than 4 million accounts) also operate in this field of browser game publishing.
